We elected the new folks to help fix the problems in our small town, and one of the first things they do is one of the newly elected people a raise? I have never had a job tht gave me a raise in just 2 weeks!!! This is ludicrous - Don't city employees have a probationary period?

jdmarti1 Moderator	# Posted: 10 May 2007 09:50 My biggest complaint is how much our mayor and city council make. Why does the mayor make $400 a month? I could be wrong - it may actually be more. I am unsure, but I think he gets paid by OPWA as well. Why do they get paid more than the $1 they used too? You run for the position because you want to help the community. If the mayor is making $400 a month and the 8 council members are making $100 - that is $1200. I would hazard to guess that we barely pay our police officers that much. Not sure how much of a raise they gave the clerk - but I imagine she knew what the amount was when she ran for office (even though it is not one and the same) - the only way we can control the council is to attend meetings and call our council members. It would be nice if they had email addresses that we could send something too. I suggested this when we first went live - but never got a response. Maybe that will change in the near future.
simon Moderator	# Posted: 10 May 2007 13:09 The mayor makes around $600 a month. It's nice to be able to pay the mayor and council but can we afford it? I know we have to have a mayor and city council but they only meet once a month I sleep better at night knowing if needed, I can call for a cop or fireman anytime. This is from a rumor I heard that they are cutting back on police and fire.
